Today marks the ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY of the release of The Ground Rules Book 1. It’s a very special day for me.
It’s kind of an interesting story. One year ago, I was very new to the romance publishing world, and although I was desperately trying to promote my book, nobody seemed to care. A few days before release, I posted a giveaway on Facebook – I was giving away an eBook of TGR. Not a single person entered!
At this point, I was feeling quite down. My hubby reminded me that I write because I love to write. True, but it’s a lot more fun to write when people actually reading your stories. He also bought me flowers on my release day to cheer me up… he’s sweet that way.
Originally, when I wrote the story, I had high expectations because I thought my story was fresh and sexy, and I was sure women like me would love it. Then, I realized how hard it is to stand out, to get people to pay attention to your book… it’s not easy, that’s for sure.
Then something wonderful happened. The awesome Maryse at Maryse’s Book Blog posted a little blurb about the book on her blog. My friend Kandace, whom I didn’t know at the time, saw the book on Maryse’s blog, read it and loved it. She pimped the book, and even gifted copies to friends!! She was the first to write a review. Also, a few other wonderful blogs we contacted posted teasers, pimped, read and wrote wonderful reviews as well.
The word spread, readers and bloggers read and loved! Four days after release, TGR hit the Amazon Erotic Romance bestsellers list and made it all the way to top 10 in that category! I could NOT believe my eyes. My publicist Traci kept telling how amazing that was. So many fabulous readers, bloggers and even USA Today and NYT bestselling authors read and loved the book! Thank you to all of you who read, shared and wrote reviews. I can’t thank you enough.
I’ve made so many new friends this past year and I’m thankful to each and every single one of you… readers, bloggers, fellow authors and my wonderful publicists Traci and Neda who have taught me so much!! And thank you to my publisher Omnific Publishing for giving me a shot!
Thank you everyone!
