I’d like to thank all the readers who have created such beautiful art for The Ground Rules (Book 1) and The Ground Rules Rewritten (Book 2). To see all the art, click on my Facebook album here.
Five simple rules. And it was very simple…until it wasn’t.
It could have been much worse. We weren’t thinking straight and had put everything on the line – risking our marriages. So when Weston ended the arrangement, it was for the best – for all of us. But I was still heartbroken. I thought I’d shatter into a million pieces. I didn’t, I survived. Not only did I survive, I came out stronger and ready to move on with my life.
Weston reaches out to me. With a few soft words, a gentle touch and a lingering gaze, he crumbles all my efforts.
Neither Gabe nor I want to start this again, and we are determined to to fight the temptation. But Weston and Bridget are not taking no for an answer, and the pull between all of us is still so strong.
I tell myself I can handle it this time. This time, I am in the driver’s seat. This time, I am rewriting the ground rules.
Here is another excerpt from Book 2 – this one is flirty and playful. You can read it at Agents of Romance.

Last week, I posted a photo of my inspiration for the pink dress. And this week, I’m posting the inspiration for the vintage Jeanne Lanvin.
As Weston helps me into the dress, his touch is soft and delicate. I look at our reflection in the gilded mirror—his tall frame in a tailored tux and mine in my soft flowing gown. I can’t help but feel like Cinderella.
He trails his finger along my exposed neck. “You look as exquisite as I’d imagined. It fits you like a glove.” His gaze lingers on me. “I’m glad. I was concerned it wouldn’t be quite right.”
“It’s really me. You chose wisely.”
He wraps his hands around my waist, warming my insides. “I thought something old might be appropriate. I know you love vintage…you’re an old soul.”
I’ve always considered myself an old soul. No one has ever noticed before. No one has ever really noticed me before. For some reason I can’t seem to quite understand, Weston gets me.
And I get him.
For me, it all started with a pink dress…
“I study the dress Claire has picked out—it’s one of my favorites, probably the favorite. It’s a fifties-era dress I spent a small fortune on at one of those posh vintage stores—pink chiffon over taffeta, a corset-like bodice with lacy straps, and a flowing skirt that falls just above the knee.
What if we hadn’t been in that closet playing dress-up? What if Claire hadn’t picked out that dress? What if it hadn’t fit? What if…”
This was the inspiration for the ‘pink dress’ which prompts Mirella to ask her husband for a night out which sets the course for the story. This is pretty close to the dress I envisioned but the straps are a little different – in my mind, the straps are thin spaghetti straps. And of course, Mirella wears an owl brooch, not a flower pin.
